with the idea that new orleans is under sea level, what possible good idea or arugment can a person have to safely rebuilding new orleans with long term success in mind? the idea that the country 'does not like new orleans or the people there' does not hold water. one idea to think about is that new orleans does hold water, and that's the problem. any good idea would be washed away. does the problem areas have to be rebuildt in the same spot?
May 14 th 8:20am. saw on the news today that they are asking the public for ideas on how to stop the spill in the gulf. if they are asking the public for ideas to stop the leak, that means that part of the world is royally FUCKED and will be for decades to come. forget about BP paying for claims. they are going to have to buy at least 2 states or a small country and support it for years.
May 14th. 7:18pm. in the news, they are talking about everybody but the guys who are under water trying to plug that thing. can any of us imagine the effort and the working conditions?
May 16th. 2:13pm. so they decided to stick a hose into the pipe to stem the flow of oil spilling out. ?? how come that sounds like it should have been the first idea? ok. i did not think of it either.
May 20th. i think it's funny that people says that BP is trying to cover up something in the Gulf Oil spill. How can they cover up anything. there was a accident. an explosion. Oil started to spill. it will prove to be one of the biggest disasters in history. there is no way to cover up those facts. unfortunately we are going to be reminded of the type of storms that area can produce and we may witness something called a tidal wave of oil and i truly hope i turn out to be full of shit. regardless of how much is spilling. how many barrels. i truly believe there are people working for BP trying their damndest to get it stopped. and they will do their damndest to get it cleaned up. they recognize that they are not just destroying any body of water or any strip of land. this is the Gulf Coast. they understand the wealth and the history and the prestige that goes along with it is irreplaceable. right now they could use a little help, if that is only by some of us shutting up unless we've got a good idea that will help.

I'm going to go out on limb and start making wild predictions. let me first say, i hope i turn out to be wrong. that would be great. with a real good storm in the gulf, New Orleans gone. oh, it maybe still standing but so much of the outer rim will be damaged and they will no longer be under sea level. they will be under oil level. there is no way the oil will not reach their water supply. Key West gone. they may not be still standing but if the are, the only reason to go there is the weather and the water. possibly Cuba gone or severally damaged. no. let me revise that. Cuba gone. they are already damaged. do we have to investigate the economy there to find out how much of it may come out of the water? okay. now i'm too depressed. and i'm sure BP is too. they know those storms better than anyone. their rig is built in the middle of them. even if they are able to stop it, as far as the clean up goes, there is no way to out run storm season. it's impossible. so far, the spill is the size of the state of Maryland. i have not even seen the size of Maryland to know that's really big for a oil spill with clean up in mind.

May 23rd. 7:14am. you know, one thing that chaps my hide about CNN. is the way they conduct their interviews. they will ask a question, and it seems they do not tell the person how many seconds they have to answer. so they end up cutting off some of the answer. kind of rudely i might add. prime example. the managing director from BP was on Sunday about 7am. somebody that some of us would like to hear from. i had just walked into the house, since my Friday night had turned into Sunday morning, so i have no idea how long he had been on already, but anyway. the TV reporter, Candy Crowley, ask the managing director from BP, how would he respond to people who say, 'they don't trust BP'? good question. whether you think he's lying or not, give the man time to answer the question. she gave him less than 15 seconds before she cut him off and said, 'i'm sorry we have to go'. to get to 'other top stories'. you know, if you were not going to give the man time to answer a very important question, don't ask, because you really don't want to know.

May 25th. 10:22am. after making predictions on the Gulf, i can no longer watch the news on the Gulf. it's too painful. with the time i've spent there, it's like watching a old friend die. something else i'm unable to do, even though friends have tried to get me to try. never understood why people think the ability to watch people die is somehow a strong asset.
May 27. 12pm. 'Top Kill': Looking for Signs of Progress. Unified Area Command and BP said today that they're still waiting for a sign as to whether the "top kill" operation they started yesterday has been effective.
May 28th. 4:34. of course all of the other oil producing countries are laughing at us. they hope we blacken the whole gulf coast. and we just might. more money in their pockets.

............................................... May 30th. 8:06 am. i can't believe that the news organization keep saying that BP is not using the right words to tell us what's going on. Hmmm. to some of us it seems pretty obvious what's going on. there is no need to spoon feed it with certain words. but, let's try this. there has been a fucking disaster that is growing by the second and nothing they are trying is working and the safe guards that were in place were damaged and it maybe a good idea if anyone has a business connected to the water they may what to try and get BP to pay them for new education and relocation as soon as possible or try to apply for a job with BP since they will be in that region a long time working to fix the damage. hows that for the right words?
May 30th. 1:30pm. a few folks have asked me why i go on about the oil spill and the people that are effected. well glad you asked. think back to Katrina. a lot of people had to relocate. some relocated to Vegas. we met them on the streets. we meet on the jobs. we meet in schools. and yes, we meet them on both sides of the law. (Jury convicts man of shooting officer after Katrina). there were moments. some better than others. the only thing we found is if they had been more prepared, sooner, there might be a lot better moments then there were. i foresee a lot more moments. the longer this spill last, the stronger effect it's going to have on the entire country in ways we do not realize and a lot of those ways, we are not going to like. if we want talk about illegal immigration. all compassion and understanding aside, with the changes our country is going to go thru, we are going to need those jobs.
May 30th. 8:46pm. looking back to april 22nd. 11 who died in Gulf oil rig explosion to be remembered. "The only thing that is going to happen in this event is to honor those victims and their families," Richard said. Four of the victims were from Mississippi, five lived in Louisiana, and two were from the Texas Gulf Coast. Company officials decided Jackson, 160 miles north of the coast, was the most central location with the best facilities to host the service. how did this become a foreign company drilling in our gulf coast when most of the workers are from the gulf coast?
May 31st. 12:12pm. what caused the oil rig explosion. when they start the investigation. they must start with who was on duty that day. going by the 11 people who are dead, it looks like there was a few gulf coast residents on duty. also if it is thought of as a crime, and the scene of the crime is blow to hell and the witnesses are dead, they have to start their investigation by guessing. but we must consider that it's possible the blame lies with the folks on duty or the people who were working the rig. not the CEO or the CFO or the managing director. they were not on duty. if you have a issue with your business, the first place you go is to the people on duty. example. if i'm a cook at Max's Diner and i drop a burger that makes a cust sick. i dropped the burger. not the owner or the manager. me.
oh the lawyers can say, since i was on duty it's the owners responsibility but that does not change the fact that i dropped the burger that started all the shit. start by putting the blame where it should be. as far as we know, someone could have simply dropped something, knocked something over, not check something they were suppose to. something simple as that which a simple investigation could miss entirely. a lot of the evidence is gone. also saying that the government was not on top of it from the beginning. all you have to do is bring up the past news video from right after the explosion and see that is incorrect. people are so forgetful. what caused the oil rig explosion.
June 2nd. 3:45pm. just dawned on me, some of us will not live long enough to see the gulf coast free of oil. well, that sucks. who knew the last visit......would be the last visit
June 3rd. 10:37pm. where my posts on 'Rebuilding New Orleans and the Gulf Coast' and 'A Bystander View of the Arizona Immigration Law' meet. when some the folks in the gulf coast have to relocate, we are going to need those jobs, bad. the gulf coast folks are not the type you want to have unemployed. also no matter which direction they go in the country, there will be culture shock, hence the equally important need for education in all areas of life.
July 23rd. now that the spill has created a sewer, let's see what 'mother nature' will do with it. i don't think it will be pretty.
